ironic, as I never saw another carp top for the rest of the season! I tried
baiting several spots on the biggest features in the section but didn’t have a
bite from a carp, just the obligatory bream. That was until one day, as I got
to my mooring and saw a carp in the water next to my boat. Cheeky bugger,
I thought!
I had left a bucket of bait on the boat since the last session a few weeks
before, and it stunk honkerton, so I emptied it in the deepest part of my
mooring on the way out. The night was uneventful where I ended up, and I
made my way back. As I was pulling into my mooring, floating past the spot
I’d tipped the bucket of bait on, it was clouded right up with a couple of
tails vortexing! With my heart racing, I moored up in the corner and quickly
walked up to the action. After watching for a bit, I could see three carp –
one mirror at least mid-twenty, an upper-double common and a tiny mirror.
They would go into the cloud, drop down and feed, then circle around the
