Anyway, back to the session… After we’d weighed, photographed and put
it back, we went back to our respective swims and got some much-needed
kip. The next night passed without any excitement, but at first light, the same
rod was away and a small, gnarly, old-looking common was soon in the net.
I did some self-takes with it and let Nikk catch up on some much-needed
zeds, as he’d been plagued with line bites from bream and chub all night.
That turned out to be the last carp caught, and despite returning a couple
more times throughout the season, they’d gone. I did lose something on an
end-of-season trip, which snagged me in a underwater tree. Although it felt
massive it didn’t fight like a carp; it was probably a cat.
I was still only able to give the river a night or two a month, which is a bit
