BIG CARP / ON THE WATER
NOVEMBER 2026
FROM THE WATER
After a couple of days with daytime temperatures reaching 44 degrees
and nights remaining around 35 degrees, it was time to take a break
from the lake. I investigated a two- or three-mile section of nearby canal,
where I spotted a super-dark common around the mid-20lb mark and
several giant grass carp interested in taking bread from the surface.
We returned to the lake and prepared all three rods for the spots. Like
clockwork, I received another bite around 8am and landed a second
common in the mid-30lb range.
Both lakes on the complex were fishing incredibly hard, but our group
managed several fish up to the low 50s. With the daytime temperatures
still so high, some of us drove to Lac du Der a few miles away. It
was a huge expanse of water. We met English anglers who gave us
the low-down on the man-made lake, and we even went for a swim to
cool down.
After four days above 40 degrees and almost no sleep, we decided to cut
the trip short and head back to the tunnel.
