Well, at the start of the year, I set myself a goal that I will get out and do
more fishing in the UK instead of France and try to get myself a UK 30.
Since start of this year, I have been to a lot of lakes in the south in search
for a 30 with no luck. There was one time I came very close when I was
fishing Todber Manor for four nights on Little Hayes and managed to land
22 fish out of 25 bites that resulted in 11 different 20s up to 29lb. When I
saw the scales go round and touch 29lb, I was gutted that I was 1lb short
of my goal but buzzing at the same time because it was the session of a
lifetime. Let s get to the interesting bit why I m writing this report
Well, basically, I fish a lovely private lake close to home, pretty much
walking distance, but the only problem was there was no publicity on
anything you catch, which put me off because if I caught a big fish and
couldn t share it, people wouldn t believe me!
Eventually the owner said anything I catch I can put up on Instagram,
Facebook and any social media page for people to see as long as I don t tell
anyone where the water is, and with that, I was straight down there. This
lovely little lake only holds about 30 or maybe 40 carp up to 40lb.
