FIELD NOTES
I was hoping this would look like boilies that hadn't quite reached the spot,
which I was hoping the wiser carp would feed on whilst the younger fish
would be having a good grub around the baited spot close to the island.
Midnight came, and I still had nothing to report on. I had a text off my
girlfriend asking how I was getting on, and I replied with the words, What
do you think? Just as I pressed send, my alarm absolutely went into
meltdown
a screaming Siren letting off a one-toner. I ran out of my
bivvy to see the middle rod bouncing all over the place with the fish I was
connected to ripping line off the reel. I grabbed my rod, and it felt like I was
hooked onto a train. My bait plan had worked because this was definitely
one of the bigger fish in the lake. I couldn't do a thing with it. After a few
minutes I managed to get a bit of control over the fish, but it was still giving
me the runaround.
The fight was immense, but I was starting to gain a bit of line back now,
and I could see it was going to come up in the water at any moment. I could
see a few ripples on the surface, which was lit up from the streetlights, and
that's when I noticed it was a big fish the Big Lin.
