FIELD NOTES
She asked if I'd called Aaron, her brother, and I explained to her that his
phone was off. I didn't even need to ask her; she said she'd come and do the
pictures for me what a good un. She came down straight away, and I got
the fish out on the mat. I hadn't even weighed it yet. I got the scales out, and
they bounced round to 33lbs 9oz the biggest fish in the lake and a new PB
for me. It wasn't at its top weight, but I really didn't mind! I know lads who
have spent years after this fish, many of them even giving up on it. I took a
few pictures on the bank and even had a few water shots with it. I was still
over the moon.
After taking a few water shots, I let my prize swim out of my arms and
watched as this magnificent old creature swam away. Now that's a carp that
could tell you some tales, as it's watched the environment build up around
it over the years. Since that capture, I've done a few sessions on the lake,
but I feel like my goal s been completed on there now. I'm also happy to say
that so far the lake is KHV free, and hopefully it stays that way, so the fish
that reside in this headbanger of a lake can live the rest of their lives, and
the big Lin can make someone else's dreams come true too!
