FIELD NOTES
The fish were showing near a big band of onion weed, so the cast had to be
perfect first time, as the fish were clearly liking it around there. Three rods
were positioned with only a handful of casts, and there was the odd show
still and a few liners. I gave it an hour fishing single hook baits to try and
get a quick fish in the net. That didn't happen, so I put roughly half a kilo
of Sticky Baits Krill over each rod, which was covered in Cloudy Krill Glug
and Himalayan rock salt, leaking loads of attraction. I was awake most of
that night, hearing a lot of fish show in the area and expecting a fish, if I
was honest.
First light came, and I was chatting to a few lads saying, I'm surprised it
didn't happen. The morning was dragging out waiting for that R3 to go in
meltdown, and at 9.30, it did.
Not knowing what was going to be on the end, after a powerful and heavy
fight, the big common surfaced about three rod lengths away from the net.
