FIELD NOTES
Anyway, the lads who were already on said they were all showing at the
deeper end. Being one to always go with my gut feeling, I chose a swim
in the shallows, and I'm glad I did.
A few hours into the trip, I had fish number one in the net, a mid-20
common, and around 11pm, fish number two was in the net another
20lb common, which was unhooked in the net so I could get the rod
back on the spot. After the pics and weighing, I returned her, and just
as I sat on my bed, the rod was away again. This time she felt heavy,
but after a slow battle I had her. Straight away, I knew she was going
to break the 40 mark, which she did 41lb 6oz, a new PB again and
another new 40. I'm blown away with how the season has started, and
hopefully there s more to come. A big common would be nice!
